On the evening of July 4, as one of the featured activities of the 2026 Cross-Strait Youth Summit series, the “Youth Floral Language • Blooming Across Strait” Haidian Cross-Strait Youth Cultural Exchange Activity was held at Nirvana Resort. With the excellent traditional Chinese culture as the bond and youth interaction as the vehicle, the activity gathered youth representatives from both sides of the strait, building a quality platform for in-depth exchange and sincere dialogue through diverse forms including trendy performances, intangible cultural heritage sharing, collaborative handicraft creation, and traditional showcases.

It is understood that this activity introduced distinctive intangible cultural heritage resources, specially inviting inheritors of two major intangible cultural heritage projects—carved lacquer technique and inner painting technique—to empower the exchange activity on site. The two masters brought multiple exquisite works to debut, displayed centrally at the on-site intangible cultural heritage exhibition area. Youth representatives from both sides of the Taiwan Strait gathered joyfully, stopping to admire the intangible cultural heritage masterpieces and experiencing the charm of traditional craftsmanship. Li Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Haidian District Committee of the Communist Youth League, stated in an interview that this activity, leveraging the large platform of the Cross-Strait Youth Summit, aims to invite Taiwan youth to walk into Beijing and deepen their roots in Haidian, enabling them to get up close and personal with the spiritual outlook and warmth of life of Haidian youth. This activity combines traditional intangible cultural heritage display and experience with youthful artistic performances, enriching the multi-dimensional, multi-layered exchange content for cross-strait youth and deepening mutual emotional connections and intellectual resonance.
The activity also specially invited Longjing rap artist Sun Xu (AKA Ghost) to take the stage and perform, using trendy music to narrate family-country sentiments and brotherly bonds, injecting fresh youthful vitality into cultural exchange. “The two works performed this time, ‘This Is Beijing’ and ‘Brothers’, were specially tailored for this cross-strait gathering scene. Youth on both sides of the strait share common cultural roots, and even more so share common youthful passions and pursuits of innovation”, said Sun Xu (AKA Ghost).

Trendy music played the song of shared hearts, while the distinctive performances by Taiwan youth added a rich strait flavor to the entire event. The featured cultural and artistic performances brought by Taiwan youth fully displayed youthful elegance and regional cultural characteristics, complementing and enhancing mainland trendy performances, achieving a brilliant dialogue between cross-strait arts and culture. A Taiwan youth participating in the activity was deeply moved, immersively experiencing Beijing’s profound cultural heritage and youthful vitality during this Haidian journey. Traditional intangible cultural heritage techniques such as plant rubbing and shadow puppetry vividly demonstrated the extensive and profound nature of excellent traditional Chinese culture, also giving him a deeper understanding of the national cultural lineage.
Going forward, the Haidian District Committee of the Communist Youth League will continue to deeply cultivate the field of cross-strait youth exchange, using culture as the bond and youth as the vehicle, building more quality platforms for mutual connection and integration, enabling cross-strait youth to accompany each other with shared hearts and advance hand in hand.
