On July 10, the Dianping “Must-Eat List” 10th Anniversary Beijing Awards Ceremony was held at the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center Conference Center. This “listeaten into existence by the people” once again became the focus of food lovers, with 4,279 restaurants from 264 cities and regions making the list, and 120 new cities globally added to the rankings. “Local recommendations,” “authentic flavors,” and “freshly made” became the keywords for listed restaurants.
The five criteria of the “Must-Eat List” can be summarized as: authentic and trustworthy reviews, cream-of-the-crop flavors, consistently excellent long -term experience, alignment with daily consumption levels, and meeting everyday dining needs. This year’s list demands that listed merchants are not just “delicious,” but “consistently delicious.”
The “Must-Eat List” continues to rely on massive volumes of authentic user reviews, enabling more street-level delicacies to transform from “local hidden gems” to “global shared treasures,” and allowing more regional specialty food cultures to step out from the alleyways.
“For ten years, we have consistently adhered to authentic user reviews as our foundation, insisted on being free from commercial interference, and completely rejected manual nominations. The ‘Must-Eat List’ has never been a list we selected—it is a list ‘eaten’ into existence by real diners,” said Tao Xuexuan, Vice President of Meituan and General Manager of the Reviews Business Division.
