Three Hills and Five Gardens×Heritage Resonance Music Festival: Taking Music as the Medium, Embarking on a “Two-Way Journey”
This year, the coordinates of the Heritage Resonance Music Festival's Beijing chapter have solemnly landed in Haidian. As a key event of the ZGC Arts Festival — a golden autumn cultural brand created by Haidian — this year's music season deeply joins hands with the “Three Hills and Five Gardens” cultural calling card, opening a “two-way journey” between a national-level cultural and artistic IP and a model district for the capital's historical and cultural heritage, through a new paradigm of “ancient architecture as the venue, music as the medium, roaming as the soul, and aesthetic education as the foundation”.
The Three Hills and Five Gardens area is a national-level demonstration zone for cultural heritage protection and utilization, an important carrier for Beijing's construction as a national cultural center, and a magnificent chapter that condenses the essence of excellent traditional Chinese culture and the pinnacle of Eastern garden aesthetics.
This year, the Heritage Resonance Music Festival team has fully entered Haidian, positioning the vast majority of Beijing's key performances within the texture of ancient architecture and gardens across Haidian District. From September 21 to October 22, a total of 8 performances will successively enter venues including the Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan) Museum, Biyun Temple, Five Pagoda Temple, Dajue Temple, and Wanshou Temple.
These performance venues are all national key cultural heritage protection units — from the only surviving ancient building complex within the Old Summer Palace, to the flying eaves and winding corridors of ancient temples and famous monasteries, audiences will feel the real-time resonance between music and ancient architecture as they move between changing scenes.
When Ancient Architecture Meets Music
Haidian 8 Premium Performances Quick Overview
This year's Heritage Resonance Music Festival will rely on Haidian's extremely profound matrix of cultural relics and historic sites to create a series of multi-dimensional immersive cultural experiences for citizens:
Live Performances in Top-Tier Ancient Architecture Spaces
Under the thousand-year-old ancient ginkgo tree at Dajue Temple, feel the serene tranquility of Zen and musical tones; step into the “Little Forbidden City of Western Beijing” Wanshou Temple, listening to the symphony of classics and history; at Zhengjue Temple (Old Summer Palace Museum), let melodies soothe the wounds of time; beside the stone inscriptions at the Five Pagoda Temple (Beijing Stone Carving Art Museum), play ancient melodies that travel through time and space; at the Jianruiying Martial Arts Hall, relive the heroic spirit and gallantry of bygone years; among the verdant pines and cypresses of Biyun Temple, feel the serene tranquility of forest and spring ancient charm. Whether Western classical or ethnic instrumental music, all will produce wonderful acoustic resonance with ancient architecture spaces.
Multi-Dimensional and Diverse Cultural Tourism Integration Content
Beyond high-level concerts, this year's music season will also collaborate with scholars and artists to launch the “Ancient Architecture Lecture Hall” for in-depth interpretation of architectural and historical codes; conduct “City Walk” to lead citizens to measure gardens and ancient architecture with their footsteps; and hold “Music Appreciation and Cultural Salons”, allowing history to step out of books and become an aesthetic daily life accessible to all.
