To improve the rail transit feeder system and enhance regional travel efficiency and service quality, a new short-distance, high-frequency bus route serving Shangdi Software Park Station will also enter trial operation tomorrow (December 29)!
As we understand, Phase I and Phase II of Zhongguancun Software Park, where Shangdi Software Park Station is located, are home to many renowned internet enterprises such as Baidu and Kuaishou, as well as a high concentration of office workers. After the metro line opens, it is expected to attract a large number of commuter passengers.
"Based on preliminary assessments, after the opening, the 'last mile' connection between this station and surrounding office buildings will mainly rely on walking or cycling. However, cycling tends to cause tidal accumulation of non-motor vehicles at metro entrances, leading to disorder. This not only reduces commuting efficiency but also impairs urban environmental quality and the friendly experience for international young talents. An efficient and intensive feeder solution is urgently needed to address this issue," an official from the Public Transport Section of the District Urban Management Committee (Transportation Committee) stated. "To this end, we have conducted multiple surveys on bus feeder services at Shangdi Software Park Station in conjunction with relevant units, including the Fourth Branch of Beijing Public Transport Group, Haidian Transport Administration Sub-bureau of the Municipal Commission of Transport, Zhongguancun Software Park, Malianwa Sub-district Office, Shangdi Sub-district Office, and Haidian Traffic Detachment. We have assessed the surrounding traffic organization and road conditions to finalize the bus feeder route."
The microcirculation route launched for trial operation operates as a clockwise loop, with its origin and destination at Software Park North Street. The 7-kilometer route features 13 stations, passing through Phase I and Phase II of Zhongguancun Software Park and connecting to Shangdi Software Park Station on Metro Line 18. Passengers heading to Phase I can board the bus at Shangdi Software Park Metro Station (Eastbound), while those bound for Phase II may take the bus at Shangdi Software Park Metro Station (Westbound), effectively meeting the commuting needs of the surrounding industrial parks.
During the trial operation period, the route will be in service on workdays from 7:30 to 10:30 and from 17:00 to 20:00, with a planned headway of 8 to 10 minutes. Beijing Public Transport Group will closely monitor passenger flow and make timely optimizations and adjustments to continuously improve bus service standards.
