As the competition curtain is about to rise, the pre-race series of activities for the 2026 HLA POW Beijing Trail Challenge (Haidian) is in full swing!
This event goes beyond simple race kit distribution. The pickup site integrates a runner expo, gear display, “Runner Talk” thematic sharing sessions, and other rich content, allowing participants to experience the cultural charm of trail running up close while collecting their materials.
This year's kit pickup is set at two locations: Huaxi LIVE ? Wukesong Hi-Park Basketball Park and Western Hills Ski Resort, adopting a time-slot reservation check-in model. Runners need to reserve their time slots online in advance and present relevant documents on-site to complete the pickup procedures.
Trail running carries higher risks than ordinary road running, so the on-site verification process is more rigorous. Staff check runners' documents item by item. Participants in long-distance categories must submit medical examination reports including electrocardiograms and blood pressure readings, while mandatory gear such as headlamps, emergency whistles, and thermal blankets are also inspected, guarding the first checkpoint for race safety.
At the pickup site, runners queue in an orderly manner, completing identity verification, document review, and kit collection in an efficient and smooth process.
Many runners immediately open their race bags upon receiving them. The bags are well-equipped, containing race T-shirts, bib numbers, timing chips, and race manuals, along with practical items such as energy supplements and race merchandise. Participants show each other their gear and exchange training tips, their words filled with anticipation for the race. Runner Ms. Wang said, “The pickup process is very smooth, and the materials are thoughtfully prepared. Coming here early allows me to get my race bag, browse the gear exhibition, and listen to the sharing sessions — the pre-race atmosphere is fully charged. I hope to finish the race smoothly and fully experience the Western Hills course. ”
In the expo exhibition area, various professional trail running gear is on display. Many runners stop to experience at brand booths, trying on shoes and apparel, researching mountaineering equipment, and consulting on outdoor emergency preparedness knowledge.
A major highlight of this event is the “Runner Talk” series of sharing sessions. Multiple veteran trail running experts came to the site, engaging in face-to-face exchanges with runners on topics such as Western Hills course characteristics, long-distance trail nutrition strategies, mountain travel techniques, and outdoor risk prevention, drawing from their own race experiences.
Many first-time trail running challengers expressed that in previous races, everything ended after picking up the kit. This time, being able to listen to expert experience sharing on-site helps them avoid many detours in race preparation. Veteran runners believe that “Runner Talk” builds a platform for runner exchange, discussing not just race times but also conveying the philosophy of safe trail running and respect for the mountains.
According to the race organizing committee, this year's integration of kit pickup, outdoor gear expo, and runner sharing aims to create a comprehensive pre-race exchange platform. Beyond completing material distribution, it seeks to popularize the concept of safe trail running and build cohesion within the Haidian running community. The committee also reminds all participants to arrange their pre-race schedules reasonably, fully assess their physical conditions, and race within their capabilities. While appreciating the natural scenery of the Western Hills, strictly adhere to safety baselines and compete with sportsmanship.
This Saturday, the race will fire its starting gun! Numerous runners are already fully prepared, ready to head to the Western Hills course and experience the unique joy of trail running through mountains and forests. Let's cheer for all the runners together!!
