Haidian District is the birthplace of Zhongguancun and serves as the core area of the Zhongguancun National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, the first of its kind in China. As a crucial hub for Beijing's ambition to develop "Four Centers", Haidian stands as one of China's most dynamic, innovative, and attractive areas.

Of Beijing's 16 districts, Haidian covers an area of 430 square kilometers and is home to a resident population of 3,122,000. In 2025, the district's GDP approached 1.37 trillion yuan, growing at 7.2% and accounting for nearly 26% of Beijing's total economic output on just 2.6% of the city's land area. Its per capita GDP exceeded 60,000 US dollars.

It hosts five "Excellence-level" and nine "Standard-level" incubators recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
