Haidian is dedicated to building an international livable environment featuring harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature. The district boasts a complete ecosystem encompassing hills, waters, forests, fields, lakes, and grasslands, with key ecological spaces such as Cuihu National Urban Wetland Park and Fenghuangling Nature Park, as well as major water sources like the Jingmi Diversion Canal and a regulating pond of the South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Route Project. As part of Beijing’s endeavor to build a “Garden City,” the district has opened 144 parks, the most in Beijing. Air quality continues to improve, with the annual average concentration of PM2.5 dropping to 25.7 µg/m3 in 2025, outperforming the other central urban districts in Beijing for 11 consecutive years.
