The winds of late spring and early summer have turned Beijing's western suburbs golden. No need to travel to Wuyuan or venture south to the Jiangnan region—right here in the heart of Haidian's Three Mountains and Five Gardens, vast fields of rapeseed flowers at Beiwu Park have quietly burst into bloom!
This is not only the closest hidden pastoral paradise to the city center, but it also holds an unexpected "pastoral idyll".
Currently, the rapeseed flowers at Beiwu Park have fully entered their peak blooming period! As far as the eye can see, the golden fields sway in the breeze, contrasting beautifully with the blue sky in the distance to create a stunning pastoral scene. Walking along the field ridges, the earthy scent mingles with the faint fragrance of flowers, enveloping you as if you've stepped into nature's own palette.
Did you know? The fact that such spectacular rural scenery can be found in this city in one of the city's most densely developed areas is the result of meticulous design and care.
This breathtaking golden sea of flowers is a fine landscape creation developed by Beijing Xinhai Garden Co. Ltd., under the Haidian District Municipal Service Group. According to Wang Shuangzhen, person in charge of landscape maintenance at the company, rapeseed flowers are grown here for more than just viewing. In recent years, Haidian District Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau, together with Haidian District Municipal Service Group, has been pressing ahead with the ecological improvement project for the "Gardens Beyond Gardens" ecological improvement initiative. They have adopted an ingenious crop rotation model combining rapeseed flowers and Jingxi rice.

"Through rapeseed flower cultivation, we enable residents to enjoy rural scenery right within the Fourth and Fifth Ring Roads," said Wang Shuangzhen. At the same time, this method also improves soil quality. It is expected that after the rapeseed blooming season ends in mid-to-late May, the flower stalks will be shredded and used as natural green manure. At that time, the planting period for Jingxi rice will begin, and by midsummer, the lush green sea of rice will reappear.
Planting a field of flowers to nourish a field of rice—this is not only a beautiful sight but also a cycle of ecology. Come bring your family and friends here for a golden rendezvous!
